「”校則”とフリースクールのルールの違い」
今回は、大人から一方的に押し付けられる校則のないフリースクールの様子を、実体験からお伝えします。
中等部の男の子と将棋をしています。
手前が原野です。
中学のころ、地域の中でも校則の厳しい学校でした。そのお蔭か、生徒の評判は良く、身だしなみも整った子が多かったです。
ある日、久しぶりに勇気を出して学校に行った時に、緊急学年集会が開かれていて、私も体育館に入って集会に参加しました。
しかし、その集会は休み中に眉毛を整えた生徒を前に立たせて、先生たちから指導を受けるというものでした。
私が叱られたわけではないのですが、その緊張感や先生たちが怖くて、一刻も早く帰りたくなったことを覚えています。
その中学校は、生徒の身だしなみは評判が良かったのですが、地域で一番いじめが陰湿な学校ということで、適応指導教室では話題でした。

このキャンペーンの事、夏休み明けの子どもの自殺などについて
みんなに話しています。
自分で納得できていないルールを強制されるのは、強いストレスを感じますよね。
流山シューレにも、細かいルールがいくつかありますが、それはいづれもミーティングを通して決まったものです。
例えば、こういう出来事がありました。
ある日、リビングのゲームコーナーでゲームをしていた子が、コップに入ったジュースをこぼしてしまい大騒ぎになりました。
それで、今後困らないようにどうすればいいかミーティングに出され、話し合った結果、「フタのない飲み物はゲーム、パソコン、楽器のあるところでは飲まない（ペットボトルならＯＫ）」というルールができました。
もしも大人が勝手にこの規則を決めていたら、このような事件は起きなかったでしょうが、子どもたちが自分で何が問題か考えて、そして仲間と解決策を話し合って決めるという貴重な経験もできなかったでしょう。
子どもが納得できないルールを勝手に作っても、バレないようにこっそりやるだけです。
そして、それをこっそりにでもやらない子は、ストレスを自分の心にどんどん溜めていくだけです。

毎回、希望者が担当します。
フリースクールでは、大人が思いついたルールも、勝手には決めません。
「こういう理由でこうしたいんだけど、協力してくれる？」
「こうなることがあったから、これはしないでもらえる？」
と一つ一つ説明して行きます。
そういうとき、スタッフと子どもの関係が対等だからこそ、子どもたちは「納得できない！嫌だ！」と思ったときに素直に自分の意見を出します。
これも、子どもが余計なストレスを感じることなく、いじめがほとんどない理由の一つだと思います。
